Artists Ofelia Esparza y Rosanna Esparza Ahrens: Our Chicana Mexicana National Treasures and their Dia de los Muertos Ofrendas

Recast in Honor of our guest who passed: Juan Pablo Gutierrez Sanchez Laura Segura Arturo Olivas Dia de Los Muertos, celebrated November 1st and 2nd, has become a National Celebration dedicated to honoring and remembering our Ancestors. For 47 years Ofelia Esparza and now her children have continued to help lead the Dia De Los Muertos Celebrations sponsored by Self Help Graphics in East Los Angeles. Ofelia Esparza brought her artistic abilities and her family history of Altar making to the greater community of East Los Angeles, and has been honored by the National Endowment of the Arts. In addition, Ofelia and her daughter Rosanna offer health and wellness activities in the community and for women who have been incarcerated through their Tonalli Studio.

The Esparza family, led by Ofelia Esparza, has  continued to bring  Dia De Los Muertos Altars  and activities  to the community during the Covid19  restrictions by going virtual in association with Self Help Graphic in Los Angeles, California.

Honoring our Ancestors is so important to our wellbeing and health, remembering how their lives  contributed to  our family histories.

The Esparza Family also provides  health and wellness activities through their Tonalli Studio  to the greater communities and women who are incarcerated.
